support@carbonapp.coFrequently Asked Questions
How does Carbon pricing work?
Carbon uses a paid-upfront model — you purchase once per platform and get access to all features forever. There's no subscription, no free tier limitations, and no upgrade prompts. All features are unlocked for all paying users.
Is there a subscription?
No. Carbon is a one-time purchase per platform. We believe task managers shouldn't charge monthly for what amounts to a database and some UI. You pay once, you're done.
How do I get a refund?
Purchases are processed by Apple, so refunds must go through them. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the Carbon purchase, and request a refund. Apple typically processes these within a few days.
How does sync work?
Your tasks sync automatically across all devices signed into your Carbon account. Changes propagate in real time — edit a task on your iPhone and it appears on the web app within seconds. Sync is included in the free tier and requires no additional setup.
Is my data private?
Yes. Your data is encrypted at rest and in transit. We don't use analytics or tracking SDKs, we don't collect device identifiers, and we don't sell your data to anyone. Voice audio is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to our servers. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
How do I delete my account?
You can request account deletion by emailing privacy@carbonapp.co. We will delete your account and all associated data from our servers within 30 days. You can also delete individual tasks and cards directly within the app at any time.
What are the three cards?
Carbon organizes tasks into exactly three cards: Today (what you're doing now), Next (important tasks coming up), and Someday (ideas and long-term goals). This constraint is intentional — it forces prioritization instead of infinite list sprawl.
What are signals?
Signals are task states that go beyond simple checkboxes. Every task has one of five signals: Pending (not started), In Progress (working on it), Completed (done), Delegated (handed off to someone), and Follow Up (needs attention later). Swipe right on a task to cycle through them.
How does voice capture work?
Voice capture lets you add tasks by speaking. Tap the microphone button, say your task naturally (including dates, times, tags, and delegates), and Carbon will transcribe and parse it automatically. Speech is processed on your device using Apple's Speech Recognition framework — audio is never sent to our servers.
My tasks aren't syncing. What should I do?
First, check your internet connection. Then try closing and reopening the app. If the issue persists, sign out and sign back in from Settings. This re-establishes the connection to our sync servers. If you're still having trouble, email us at support@carbonapp.co and we'll help.
What platforms is Carbon available on?
Carbon is available on iPhone (iOS 15+), iPad, Mac, and the web. Android is coming later this year. Your account and data sync across all platforms. The iOS app also includes Home Screen widgets for quick access.
I found a bug. How do I report it?
Email support@carbonapp.co with a description of the issue, what you expected to happen, and what actually happened. If possible, include your device model and iOS version. Screenshots are always helpful. We read every email and typically respond within 24 hours.
